The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling Resources

Updated: Feb 29

Discover the best homeschooling resources to enrich your child's education. From online platforms to local resources, find your way in homeschooling.

Finding my way in the jungle of homeschooling opportunities, I have never been more overwhelmed....

Homeschooling can be an enriching and rewarding experience for both parents and students.

However, for me it was overwhelming, stressful and I have never felt more alone. I didn't know where to start, struggling finding the right resources, and above all that - I was trying to copy school making everyone miserable and stressed.

I have never felt more insecure.....

That's why I have put together a small guide to homeschooling resources, although my biggest suggestion would be to deschool, deschool yourself, partner and especially the children.

Learning should be fun!

The first step is checking on your state homeschool laws on https://hslda.org/legal Choose your state or territory to get detailed information on how to withdraw from public school, homeschooling requirements including testing & mandatory subjects, plus resources and more.

What is deschooling?

Deschooling is an educational method and philosophy that promotes the freedom of children to choose what they want to learn, invented by the Austrian philosopher Ivan Illich.

More specifically, it refers to the process in which the student leaves traditional education to adapt to learning at home, and the time it takes to get used to this.

For us, deschooling made us decide that unschooling is the best fit, with a hint of world schooling at least, for now ;-)

“The public is indoctrinated to believe that skills are valuable and reliable only if they are the result of formal schooling.”

Ivan Illich, Deschooling Society

1. Online Platforms: There are numerous online platforms that offer a wide range of subjects and learning materials. Websites like

not necessarily free websites, but absolutely worth sharing

I will be updating this list on a regular base, so please share all your ideas with me

2. Educational Apps: In today's digital age, educational apps have become increasingly popular among homeschooling families. Apps like Duolingo, Photomath, and Quizlet offer interactive and engaging learning experiences. Whether you want to learn a new language, practice math skills, or create flashcards for studying, there is an app for almost every subject. 3. Library Resources: Don't underestimate the power of your local library! Libraries are treasure troves of educational resources, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, and online databases. Take advantage of your library's vast collection to supplement your homeschooling curriculum. Encourage your children to explore different genres and subjects, fostering a love for reading and learning. 4. Co-ops and Homeschooling Groups: Joining a homeschooling co-op or group can provide valuable support and resources. Co-ops often organize field trips, group activities, and classes taught by parents or professionals. These groups also offer a platform for parents to share resources, curriculum ideas, and teaching strategies. Connecting with other homeschooling families can create a sense of community and provide a support system.

5. Curriculum Providers: If you prefer a structured approach to homeschooling, consider using curriculum providers. Companies like Time4Learning, Oak Meadow, Sonlight and the good and beautiful offer comprehensive curriculum packages that cover multiple subjects and grade levels. These providers often include lesson plans, textbooks, and online resources, making it easier for parents to plan and implement their homeschooling curriculum.

6. Local Resources: Take advantage of the resources available in your local community. Museums, art galleries, science centers, and historical sites often offer educational programs and workshops specifically designed. Conclusion: With the diverse range of homeschooling resources available, you can tailor your child's education to their individual needs and interests. Whether you prefer online platforms, educational apps, library resources, co-ops, curriculum providers, or local resources, there is something for everyone. Remember to be flexible and adapt your approach as your child's needs evolve. Embrace the freedom and creativity that homeschooling offers, and enjoy the journey of learning together. Happy homeschooling!
